I think I am fat
Help, I’m in desperate need of advice. I’ve lost 3 stone since April, I’m now 5 feet 5 and an revoltingly fat at 7 and a half stone. I am grotesque but I can’t seem to lose any more. Please let me know what I can do.

First, congratulations on losing 3 stone! Well done! It CAN’T have been easy. I do sympathize and I know many ladies (myself amongst them) who’ve struggled with different levels of weight issue problems.
Sadly, there is NO fast formula for losing weight quickly. You have to follow a diet that’s not too strict which you can adhere to in the long run. Something like a boiled egg& half a grapefruit with one piece of brown toast and a cup of tea without sugar for breakfast, followed by a mid day snack like an apple, and a big salad and chicken roasted and eaten without skin with some roasted veggies for lunch. It’s best to skip dinner/ supper and not eat after 6 or 7 PM maximum.
You CAN and should have another light snack in the afternoon (after lunch). Acceptable snacks include: an apple, or an orange, (any type of fruit except bananas and mangos as they have too much sugar) or a pear or five dates. Another good snack would be a small low fat tub of plain or fruit yogurt. A cup of sugarless tea or coffee (or only one small spoon sugar) with two small plain biscuits is also acceptable. If you want a tasty snack, go for popcorn rather than crisps- as the former is less fattening.
You can eat chocolate but only half a bar. Dark or black chocolate is better than brown and avoid white chocolate altogether. Avoid junk food like hamburgers, pizza, crisps, and stuff like that. Try to eat a few nuts with some cut fruit like small apples and carrots for snacks. Also use only one small spoon of olive oil on salads, only a little salt, and as much vinegar as you want.
Cut down on: salt, sugar, olive oil, butter, junk food. Avoid fried food& eat only baked or roasted food. Eat loads of salads& fruits. Drink up to 8 glasses of water per day as it’s healthy and helps curb hunger.
Take lots of walks (even only a half hour leisurely walk 3 or 4 days a week) is better than nothing. Diets work better& faster when accompanied by exercise. Also, take the stairs instead of the elevator& if you have a desk job, get up and move as much as you can.
Eating half a grapefruit and drinking its juice before each meal is also recommended as is drinking 3 glasses of water with a small spoon of vinegar in each one. So, drink 5 glasses of plain water per day + 3 big glasses of water mixed with a small spoon of vinegar.
Go on a low fat& low sugar diet. Eat in moderation; DON’T go for seconds. Use small plates to eat on. If you can get into the habit of not finishing your plate& leaving something on it, it’s also good.
Whatever you do, don’t rush it. Unfortunately, it DOES take a lot of time to lose weight – sometimes even if it’s a small amount- so pls don’t get too discouraged. It helps to keep a diary and write down how much you eat each day, that way you won’t overeat. Also, try to wear clothes that flatter your figure. Dark clothes, trousers with a straight cut leg, long skirts. Avoid loose clothes as they only make you look bigger. If you have to shop in maternity wear, you might find great stuff. That’s what I did at size 16. Many places don’t cater to fuller figures sadly. Society still needs a long way to go before they cut out this obsession with thinness, so pls don’t let it get you down.
I’m sure you’re not grotesque, you probably have a great face & personality- but you’re suffering low self-esteem due to this weight problem. Having hobbies & going out with your friends to the movies will help get your mind off this subject- so it’s not on your mind 24/7. Pls give your self credit for your good points like intelligence and humour. Weight isn’t everything, though I know it seems like it in this appearance-obsessed world we live in.
If you are seriously overweight, you would benefit by visiting your doctor who could prescribe certain diet pills which are not risky to your health and/or antidepressants if you’re in need. Plus, a nutritionist could help you put together a good eating plan. You might even be able to get surgery, though you’d have to be careful what you ate after that.
You might be one of those people – like me- who take ages to burn weight. You might also be allergic to certain kinds of food, so have that – and your thyroid – checked out.
The best tip I can give you is also drink at least 4 cups of GREEN TEA per day- as this drink does help burn fat. But pls drink it WITHOUT sugar or it won’t be as effective. Consider it medicine if you don’t like the taste and drink it.
Finally, remember that any diet you go on is NOT permanent. After a month or so of being on your diet, when you feel an improvement, then you need to go off a strict diet (no one can keep it forever& it isn’t healthy to try) but you can go off it and then just make a LIFESTYLE OF HEALTHY EATING: LOW FAT, LOW SUGAR EATING. AVOID FRIED FOODS, GO FOR ROASTED, EAT IN SMALL AMOUNTS, LOADS OF WATER, DRINK GREEN TEA, DON’T EAT AFTER 6 PM, WALK A FEW TIMES A WEEK. AVOID JUNK FOOD.
You can also find interesting websites on the net if you press the word (diet) or (weight loss). Many sites have loads of good ideas for losing weight but they DO take time.
Walking with friends is a good idea and eating with people who eat healthy. Avoid people who eat fatty food as it can be hard to resist.
There is a new diet pill that’s supposed to be good. It suppresses the appetite& burns fat without harming the body. It’s called HOODIA GORDONI. Check it out on google. Write the word in the google search engine. You can find its website and tell your doctor about it. If he thinks it won’t harm you, he’ll prescribe it for you. It could help give you that boost you need to speed things up – along with diet and exercise.
Visualizing yourself ; seeing yourself with your dream body helps- so practice doing that nightly before you fall asleep.
I hope you lose your weight eventually and that you build up your self-esteem. Remember all the beautiful inner traits you have and keep manifesting how great you know you are till your outer beauty shines through. I know you can do this. If you get tempted to overeat at times& setbacks happen, don’t beat yourself, just pick yourself up and go on. You WILL get slimmer eventually but only aim at a size that’s realistic for you like size 16 or 18. I do hope I’ve helped you. Best of luck.

It’s a tapping techinque where you tap different parts of the body while repeating positive statements such as (Even though I have a weight problem I completely and profoundly accept myself).
Check it out and do it as it does help you cut out cravings and lose weight. Give it a try!
Oh – this is the most shocking and sad thing I’ve seen. Please don’t listen to Lisa!!! If you are 5ft 5 and 7 and a half stone your BMI shows you are UNDERWEIGHT, and are damaging your health by remaining the way you are, let alone losing more weight. You have a serious body image issue if you think you are ”revoltingly fat”. Please, please go to your local GP and explain how you are feeling. They will be able to give you help and advice as to how you can change your low self esteem and get back to a healthy weight, which means putting on around a stone.
Lisa – you are giving vulnerable people advice, and should be much more careful what you say. This poor person has probably taken your ignorance as proof that he/she does need to lose weight, and could be damaging themselves in all kinds of ways (physically and emotionally). I hope you realise what a responisibility you have and feel suitably ashamed.
Oh my gosh, 7 and a half stone is not fat!! That’s a really good, healthy weight. Congrats on losing the three stone, I’m very envious! As for 7 and a half stone being “grotesque”, I really can’t say I agree with you!!

Standing at 5ft 3 I weigh over 10 stone.. and I know thats not a shapely weight, and maybe not too healthy either.. so you certainly don’t need to loose anymore weight..

i can only assume lisa thought you said 17 and a half stone, because if she didnt she is sick to be fair.
and love, please go and see your docter, because you are not fat but clearly have body issues, there is a lot of support out there that will help you feel more confident and i urge you to take it. all the best.

OK,quite clearly Lisa does not what she is talking about as she said you were size 16 when if if you are seven and a half stone you will not be that.You’re thin and dnot need to get thinner.Your weight shouldent control your life anyway.

Well done on the weight loss…it should leave you feeling far more happy about yourself, I’ve done some calculations and it seems your BMI is very low at 17.5, this is underweight and if you still feel fat and are wishing to loose weight this is an issue.
I would say to you that, although it may seem scary and or silly to go to the doctor, even if you feel that you do not have an eating disorder… I am currently struggling with one and really wish that Ihad caught it before it got to this stage, recovery is horrific and scary and feels impossible. You do not want to get to that stage, I am sure you are gorgeous, forget about weight loss or weight gain and enjoy life, take it from someone who knows how much time and happiness, friendship and fear you waste on worrying about food.
7 and a half stone is gorgeous and you DO NOT need to loose anymore, try to feel happy in yourself, eat healthily, fruit, veg, lean meats and complex carbs, excercise when you can and your weight will take care of itself.
I know that if you are struggling from an eating disorer eating normally sounds impossible but please try, go to your doctor, get help and get better, if you don’t think youare then you are probably on the verge of so please goto your GP…I really wish you luck and pray that you will take this advice…I hope you do not become ill… it sounds hard or silly but you can do it. Do you have a parent/friends who can go with you…? Tell them your feelings and go together…trust me they will be so pleased that you tell them and that you are trying to get better…recovery does not mean weight gain it means gaining trust and gaining hope, freedom and your life…Good Luck.

i’m not sure what sort of advice lisa gave you but … you don’t need to loose anymore weight !
i’m about 5 foot 2 so smaller then you and i am about 7 stone so that means your weight is perfect.
if you are not sure on your ideal weight for your body frame you can check that out with your doctor.
alot of my friends are your height and are much heavier and still super skinny .
well done again for loosing weight but you really don’t need to loose anymore.

well done for losing 3 stone. I get bullied all the time from people at school calling me chuby i get rejected as well its not fair but its the way god made us so if anyone says anything just stand up to them and say havent u got anything better to do. People that bull are sados ignore them or stand up for yourself but dont let them get to you your fine the way you are.
oh and im nine and i weigh 7 stone 2 so imagine how hard life has been for me

none of us are fat at all
and being that light can not make you fat
we all think that you siound very slim.
Darling, I’ve also been trying to lose some weight recently, and congratulations on losing three stone. But, at 5ft 5, you’re BMI means that you are underweight. I think you need to go see a doctor and see if he or she thinks that you have an eating disorder. 7st and a half is not fat at all!! You need to look at yourself in the mirror, and rather than think “I’m fat” think “I’m not slim”. Your brain concentrates on the positive and soon the way you see yourself will change. Good luck.
Personally I think that everyone is beautiful and that weight shouldn’t matter to people as much as it does.
You ARE beautiful. But if you really don’t believe that and want to lose weight, perhaps joining a gym or slimming club like weightwatchers could help?
If the worst comes to the worst then you could talk about surgery but I truly do believe that as long as their are no health problems attached to your size, then you should just love and be who you are.

My advice is this. Dont lose anymore weight. If you want to be healthy, eat a balanced diet. This includes “good” fats. Plus everyones aloud chips and chocolate in moderation!
Your not fat, todays society thinks that being thin is sexy and good for you well in your case its NOT good for you. Have your parents not commented on how thin and how much weight youve lost? You should see a doctor if losing weight and counting calories is always on your mind! You may need some counselling.
Take up a hobby like walking or horse riding to take your mind off things.
Losing 3 stones is amazing im standing at 5ft2 and im 8 stones,i dont think im fat, i think your very slim dont doubt your self.
WHAT! how can you say you’re fat? my body developed early, around when i was about 10, and now i’m 14 i’m walking around with the same body as my mother at ten stone! you’re really lucky!
If you lack of self-confidence and think that losing weight can help you to feel better about yourself, I advise you to eat healthy and varied food, don’t eat between the meals and make sport. Don’t worry if you don’t see results in short order, some people grow skinny more or less rapidly but in every instance, if you take recommendation into account, you will manage to accomplish your objective. I really think you should seek help, this sounds like an eating disorder to me. (I would know, i used to suffer from an ED) Tell someone you trust about how you feel because, as stated before, you are underweight. Good luck sweetheart, i know exactly how you feel.
The girl is clearly looking for attention, and I thought Lisa’s comment was really witty. I laughed quite heartily. There are people sturggling with real eating disorders, because if this girl really did think she was that grotesque and fat, she wouldn’t splash her weight over the internet… unless she knew she’d get these kind of reactions from people. I really can’t take this seriously, I’m very sorry.
you are absolutly not fat i am 5 foot 6 and weight 9 and a half and my BMI is perfectly healthy if you thing you are fat do not change your eating patern just exersise more waaay helthier
this adivse that people are giving you is wrong you are tiny at 7 1/2 stone! you dont need to lose anymore, be careful because it isnt hard to slip into an eating disorder like this. thats what happened to me i started dieting lost a lot of weight and kept on going and now i am stuck with anorexia. you need to be seriously careful about how far you want to take this. you dont need to lose anymore weight. if you truely think you are fat just try toning it can make a world of difference. xxx.
You are definatly not fat! im 5-4 and 9 stone. and actually im quite a skinny modal. however i sometimes feel bloated if i don’t do much excercise and if i don’t eat a nutritious enough meal. when i was 7.5 stone i looked quite underweight on photographs and to keep in shape i eat as much as i need of healthy food-pasta, wholemeal bread, fruit, veg, meat, fish, dairy products, cereals etc. Also cutting out all the fat in your diet can be very dangerous as your body cant absorb nutrients and your skin starts to sag and go a bit grey. so a little bit of fats can be a good thing. If you still aren’t happy with your body image then why dont you work towards something like toning your muscles by doing yoga or a simple workout? Eating a bowl of cereal in the mornings is great, you feel full so you wont snack in between meals. Good Luck !!

I just wanted to say that weight is not a full reflection of yourself. If you didn’t know muscle weighs more than fat anyway. The main thing is that your bmi is ok and you look and feel healthy. I am 5ft 2 and i weigh 7 stone and i dance more than 3 times a week, eat a healthy diet and do a heck of a lot of walking. You are not fat, its great that you’ve lost 3 stone but you don’t want to become so obsessed that it turns into an eating disorder. If you feel and look healthy you are fine nobody should be “normal” everybody is different. Keep eating 3 healthy meals a day and exercising and you will be healthy all the time.
