I am 13 and I want to stop smoking
I Smoke And I Am Thirteen … And I Cannot Stop.
I Have Been Smoking Ever Since I Was Twelve And I Am Finding It Difficult To Stop And Have More And More Each Day.
My Friends Think Its Cool But Im Starting To Think Im Going To Die At A
Young Age. Please Help!

You should chew gum when you want to smoke. You can get nicotine tablets from a chemist’s shop.If it doesn’t work you should talk to psychotherapist.
- no your friends are wrong it isn’t cool.
- they are not good friends if they think something that will damage your health is good
-there are many sites which you can visit to help you
- nicotine gum to help you
- you can search these things in google.
- if you have a shared computer and your mum questions what you have been searching say it is for a project
if you don’t want to confide in anybody that you are smoking, ask someone close ( not your friends ) advice saying maybe one of my friends wants to stop smoking but i don’t know how to help him/her .

talk to an adult and see if you can get some help, you need to change so you can be a better enfluence on your friends, and just don’t get more cigertetts. chew sugar free gum keep busy learn music like the harmonica it keeps your hands and mouth moving and you oucciped

i know how hard it is speak to your family they won’t shout
smoking is not cool, its disgusting. and if your friends think it’s cool there is something wrong. your mates should be telling you to stop and help you through it not encourage you.
of course you’ll be addicted to it it has nicotine in it. my advice to you would be bin the fags you have just now and your lighter and whatever else you have thats to do with smoking. then i’d make new friends preferebly ones who don’t smoke, if they smoke then you will want to start again or you might be pressurised into it.
sort yourself out, would you like your 12 year old kid to smoke no you wouldn’t, so don’t dissapoint your parents don’t hang in the crowd that smokes have a change in everything looks personality and all that and see if people will accept you into their group

Being able to see that something is a problem is the first, and sometimes the hardest step.
Quitting smoking isn’t easy, nicotine (contained in ciggarettes) is a drug, this makes smoking very addictive.
The good news is that there is plenty of help out there. It is very important to be able to talk to people for support, however if you do not have anyone that you feel that you can talk to about this, you could try using a telephone service like childline who you can talk to about any problems you have on your mind (0800 1111) or quitline (0800 00 22 00) who are specifically there to help people quit smoking.

The health effects of smoking in your future could be deadly, but that aside smoking has immediate effects for you too, it causes; bad skin, bad breath,bad smelling clothes and hair, reduced athletic performance, greater risk of injury and slower healing time as well as an increased risk of illness.
Be strong, know what you want, try to resist peer pressure (as hard as that might be) and don’t be affraid to ask for help.

Yes you can stop. Others have who have smoked longer, and your age group has. It’s only hard for a little while, then its easy. Just override the first few months and home and hosed. Its a bit expensive isnt it

Dont worry im not going to have a go at you one of my best friends smokes loads every day and she comes to school and stinks every day remember the causes of smoking your teeth turn yellow and trust me no boy would want to kiss a girl with minging teeth and your breath will start stinking and once again which boy would want to kiss a girl with bad breath and you will start getting some really really bad spots and im 14 and trust at our age spots is the last thing we want right? them pictures on the front of the packet are true that is what happens to you smoking is really bad not cool what your friends are doing is called peer preesure and just because they do it doesnt meen you have to right? and if you do quit and they hold it against you then im sorry but they are not real friends bbz xx try getting addicted to something else like bitting your nails or licking your lips well anything is better then smoking or try nicotine gum you could even talk to a science teacher about it say a friend though

Hey, I arnt going to have a go at you, saying STOP SMOKING NOW. It’s illegal, lol sorry about that.
But I want to try and help you to stop. Right if you have a boyfriend, or are currently looking for one. Do you think he would like you back if you have [signs from smoking] yellow teeth, bad breathe, you and your clothes stink of smoke, will he want to kiss you? brown fingernails, nicotine on your hands (stains you know). Etc Etc.
Now i dont want to scare you but each cig takes (i forgot what it was) off your life, people who smoke live to a younger age than the rest who dont. Now try and stop, it doesnt matter what your friends think, there still going to be your friend even if you stop. Go talk to someone, if you are hiding this secret from your mum and dad, then I would adivice talk to them and maybe they can help you out, or if you feel scared talk to a close family relative, someone the same age as you or someone you trust lots? They will give you great advice, or talk to a doctor, go on some childrens tip websites like this one your on now and get even more advice off it. I arnt going to really tell you, but I’ve had, well an experience off smoking before. Some of my friends and family do too, but just cos they do, why should i? That wasnt the reason why i started in the first place, i just wanted to try. You no in life, their comes a time where you try something one time. Oh by the way, get some nicotine patches and theres these cigs and theres no nicotine in them or these plastic things you put in your mouth, its like a cig but its not. Its really clever, try them, and maybe stay away from your mates who smoke for a bit so you dont get tempted. And talk to them about it, and make an agreement that they wont smoke in front of you or mention anything to do with smoking.

Its really good that you’ve decided you want to give up smoking because it will give you all kind of problems in the future and is really bad for you. Ive never smoked im kinda aginst it but i think that it always easier to give something up if you
1) Have people who support you
2) Even better if a friend gives it up with you bcause they would know how you are feeling
3) If you substitute it with something like the nicorette gum

wait yeah its bad for you but my dad smokes and he’s been smokinf since he was 12 and hes 42 so there could be a possibilty you actually live…i wouldnt chance it …psst i smoke aswell it aint hard i got gum and patches soo its coool and your freinds are idiots just to let ya know ya get me !!!
You should talk with your parents, because it’s a very serious problem. You are 13 years old if i were you , i would talk with an adult, a brother or a responsable friend. If you start with this at your age you will finish with crack or others drugs. if you start with drugs, how about getting help?
It’s all about the mind. The mind is stronger than the body and you’re right. You will die at a young age if you don’t stop. I’m glad you realised there was a problem and as you’re still young you can stop. Just reminf yourself each time you pick up a cigarette of what’s happening to your body. Think about your future. Is there something you really want to do when you grow up? Any career, aim or maybe even just starting a family? If so let that thought fuel you because if you don’t stop now, there will be no future for you. Is that what you want? To pass away without experiencing a full human life. Think about everyone that you’d be hurting if you got lung cancer. Sure you’d be in pain but eventually you’d die. Your loved ones, parents, siblings,friends,lovers,offspring in the future all crying over your dead body. They’ll have to live with that hole for their entire life. The emptiness caused by you. Don’t do this to yourself, you’re only 13. IF you truly wish to quit here are some tips
-Tell a person who cares about your well being. This will ensure that you arent the only person who knows and this person can check whether you follow through each day
-Acute cigarette cravings typically last no more than five minutes.
-Nicotine cravings will become more manageable with each passing success of not smoking.
-Try exercising or taking a walk when the cravings occur.
-Avoid other people smoking.
-Completely eliminate alcoholic beverages while quitting smoking.
-Drink large amounts of water.
-Increase the amount of raw fruits, vegetables, and fiber in the diet.
-Don’t stress yourself out during the quitting process.
You’re friends are wrong – it is NOT cool to smoke. I don’t know how you can even begin to interpret something that severely shortens your life and damages your lungs as ‘cool’. However, since you’ve said that you are currently 13 years old and you began smoking at 12, you have not been smoking for that long. Which means you still have a chance to stop and give yourself a chance at living a long and healthy lifestyle. The chewing gum instead of smoking a cigarette may not always work, especially for those who don’t particularly like gum. Whenever you get the urge to smoke – and this is down to you and you alone, you can’t expect Doctor’s to fix you by putting you on tablets or patches or nicotine – just think that every cigarette you smoke leads you a day closer to death’s door. I have never touched the things myself – I think it’s highly unhygienic, do you really want to have yellow teeth, bad lungs, and eventually after several years of smoking you will probably begin to get a wheezing cough and I know 2 people who smoked and now spend their days coughing up phlegm from their lungs. Do you really want this to happen to you? You have to make the decision. Spend a short life smoking these ‘dream sticks’ or live a long healthy life and most importantly – HAPPY.
